MEET DANIIL MEDVEDEV

Having turned pro in 2014, Daniil Medvedev is one of the most exciting young players to come through on the mens tour in recent years. Aged just 23, he has won seven ATP singles titles already, including two of the prestigious Masters 1000 titles at Cincinnati and Shanghai.Medvedev achieved a breakthrough year in 2019, when he reached six consecutive tournament finals, including one at the 2019 US Open where he lost to Rafa Nadal in five tight sets and three at Masters 1000 events.
This will be Danii’s debut TB10 tournament but with his huge serve and attacking nature he has all the attributes to go far in the fast paced format; as well as hard courts being his favoured surface. His serve is his dominant weapon, with Danii winning 81.5% of his service games.

“I am really looking forward to playing in my first TB10 tournament in Indian Wells. I love playing on hard courts and in America where I have enjoyed a lot of success over the last year or so. Tie Break Tens is a super exciting format, being so fast paced and fun to watch. I can’t wait to give it a go.”

TIE BREAK STRENGTHS

BASELINE POWER

Medvedev is a 6’6 tall baseline player – he possesses exceptional movement, enabling him to excel at the back of the court. His game is centred on remaining un-attackable in long baseline rallies due to his long, flat, low bouncing and penetrating groundstrokes. His continued deep balls wear down opponents.

MENTAL STRENGTH

Danii is an impressively mentally strong player, which is often exhibited on court with an attacking attitude, playing style and demeanour. His best shot is his backhand, which he hits with depth, pace and precision and is able to redirect down the line for winners.

HUGE SERVE

Danii possesses a very powerful and accurate serve, winning him many free points. His first serve is typically flat and around 130 mph (209 km/h), while his second serves are kickers or sliced out wide, though he is capable of serving flat and accurate second serves as well.
