MEET TAYLOR FRITZ

Local boy, Fritz is the son of former top 10 Women’s player – Kathy May and first picked up a racket at the age of just 2 years old. He turned pro in 2015 and in 2016 he was named ATP Newcomer of the Year. He won the boys final at the US Open in 2015. Taylor’s maiden ATP tournament win came on the grass at Eastbourne (UK) in June 2019. He has reached the third round in a Grand Slam twice, at the US Open in 2018 and in the 2019 Australian Open where he reached the 3 rd Round before losing to Roger Federer.

“Coming back to Indian Wells to play TB10 again in my home state of California, in front of my home fans will be another awesome night for me. I’m really looking forward to seeing friends and family in the crowd and playing in this fast format which suits my big serving game.”

TIE BREAK STRENGTHS

VARIETY

Fritz may not have been on the tour long but he is improving rapidly with every tournament. Not only does he possess a big first serve but his top-spin lob is a thing of beauty and so heavily disguised that he regularly flat-foots his opponents.

POWER

Fritz possesses a dominant serve that can reach 149 mph, and solid groundstrokes off both wings. One of Fritz’s defining strengths is his ability to hit sharp angle cross-court shots on both the backhand and forehand sides. He also has a good topspin lob.

LOCAL HERO

With a local crowd cheering him again, who knows how far Taylor will progress in his second Tie Break Tens tournament.
