MEET TAYLOR FRITZ
Local boy, Fritz is the son of former top 10 Women’s player – Kathy May and first picked up a racket at the age of just 2 years old. He turned pro in 2015 and in 2016 he was named ATP Newcomer of the Year. Taylors best run in a Grand Slam came this year at the Australian Open where he reached the 3rd Round before losing to Roger Federer.
‘Playing Tie Break Tens in my home state of California, in front of my home fans will be an awesome night for me. I’m really looking forward to seeing friends and family in the crowd and playing in this fast format which will be the first time for me. Bring it on!’
TIE BREAK STRENGTHS
Fritz may not have been on the tour long but he is improving rapidly with every tournament. Not only does he possess a big first serve but his top-spin lob is a thing of beauty and so heavily disguised that he regularly flat-foots his opponents.
Fritz possesses a dominant first serve that can reach up to 140mph, as well as powerful groundstrokes off both wings. On of his defining shots is his ability to hit sharp angle cross-court shots on both the backhand and forehand sides.
With a local crowd cheering him on who knows how far Taylor will progress in his debut Tie Break Tens tournament.
